Trondheim Sinfonietta performs the concert series Spectral:
- Lasse Thoresen: AbUno
For AbUno (1992), composer Lasse Thoresen received the award for "Composition of the Year" by the Norwegian Society of Composers. The piece is regarded as one of his finest works from a long series of award-winning and internationally recognized compositions.
- Gérard Grisey: Partiels
Partiels (1975) by Gérard Grisey is a defining work in spectral music. Several second and third generation spectral composers cite Partiels as causing their initial interest in the spectral outlook.
- Hilmar Thordarson: Kuki No Sukima
Kuki no Sukima by Hilmar Thordarson is commissioned by and for Trondheim Sinfonietta, and translates to "between air". Through the composed material, the conductors movements and active participation in the soundscape, new possibilities arise for musical performance and experience. By letting the conductor play the role of active musician and creator of sound, the piece offers a visual dimension as the audience can "see" the processing of sound live.
